We are pleased to invite your contribution to a special issue following up on works presented at the Hurricanes & Scaffolding Symposium in December. This issue aims to extend and deepen the discussions initiated at the conference, offering a platform to publish this research in diverse and engaging formats. The special issue is published with the open access journal PARSE, which allows for rich online media content, including video and interactive slideshow presentations, along with more conventional research articles.
Note that we will only be able to include a limited number of high-quality contributions, thus there will be a selection process following your submission. The selection will be based on both quality and the extent to which the work contributes to critical issues in artistic research, in combination with its fit in the production of a coherent thematic special issue.
We welcome submissions in the following forms:
- Slideshow: A structured visual presentation that communicates key ideas, research findings, or artistic processes. Example: https://parsejournal.com/article/barbara-a-tale-of-transformation/
- Full Paper (max. 7,000 words): A traditional academic paper on the work presented at the conference. Regular text (vertical scroll): https://parsejournal.com/article/there-are-no-extinctions-in-relations-without-bodies/
- Visual Essay (max. 2,000 words + visual content): A combination of text and images presenting your work. Regular text (vertical scroll): https://parsejournal.com/article/in-reverie/
- Video Essay: A concise audiovisual work demonstrating artistic research in motion. Example: https://parsejournal.com/article/not-propaganda/
- Audio essay, see e.g.: https://parsejournal.com/article/cranial-nerve-number-eight/
